BOOK
Cultural Therapy
Cultural Therapy is born from the intersection of two of my great passions: psychology and culture. It emerges, on one hand, from years of listening in consultation to deeply human and moving stories, and on the other, from my love of literature, cinema, and art.
It also stems from an intimate experience: that of having found answers to personal concerns in the plot of a film, refuge in the beauty of a painting, or companionship in a character from a book. Of experiencing, in myself and in others, the therapeutic power of culture.
This book is a journey through major mental health topics—such as anxiety, self-esteem, attachment, romantic relationships, resilience, trauma, or grief—through films, novels, and works of art that help us better understand who we are and how we relate to the world.
Throughout its pages, psychology dialogues with stories, images, and characters that illuminate human experiences difficult to put into words. Art allows us to feel seen; psychology helps us understand why.
I wanted to write an accessible, human, and approachable book, where complex psychological concepts could be understood simply by seeing them reflected in metaphors, symbols, and stories that are part of our cultural and emotional life.
Cultural Therapy is designed both for people interested in knowing themselves better and caring for their mental health, as well as for lovers of cinema, literature, and art who wish to discover a psychological perspective on the works that move them.
