I am Ver\u00f3nica, a clinical psychologist, passionate reader, and art lover in all its forms.<\/strong> I approach mental health from an integrative perspective, where science and sensibility<\/strong> coexist and mutually enrich each other.<\/p>

I studied Psychology at the Universidad Metropolitana de Caracas<\/strong> and later completed a Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Columbia University<\/strong>. Subsequently, I validated my training in Spain, where I completed a Master’s in Eating Disorders<\/strong> and another in General Health Psychology.<\/strong> <\/p>

Throughout my career, I have worked in institutions such as the Hospital Infantil Ni\u00f1o Jes\u00fas<\/strong>, the Hospital Universitario Santa Cristina<\/strong>, and the Instituto de Trastornos Alimenticios (ITA)<\/strong>.<\/p>

For several years, I was part of Sinews Multilingual Therapy Institute<\/strong>, a clinic serving international residents in Madrid, where I supported adolescents and adults in Spanish, English, and French. I also had the opportunity to collaborate as a psychologist for the university programs of Stanford University and Syracuse University<\/strong> in Madrid. <\/p>

Parallel to my clinical work, I have always been interested in the humanities and art,<\/strong> which led me to study art history at the \u00c9cole du Louvre<\/strong> and take film and philosophy courses at the Institut Catholique de Paris. I find refuge and a mirror in culture, and I believe it enriches both my professional practice and my personal life. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Two Complementary Ways of Knowing<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I integrate psychology and culture<\/strong> as paths for personal support, exploration, and transformation. They are two distinct ways to open an inward door<\/strong>. I believe that both forms of knowledge\u2014the sensitive, through art, and the scientific, through psychology\u2014complement each other<\/strong>. Culture illuminates internal experiences that are difficult to put into words through stories, characters, images, and symbols. Psychology provides understanding, structure, and a scientific basis<\/strong> that helps to comprehend these internal processes and transform them consciously. <\/p>

While art connects with the sensitive and unconscious<\/strong>, psychology offers a framework to make sense of, integrate, and support<\/strong> what we discover about ourselves.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Psychological suffering is often accompanied by guilt<\/strong> or the feeling of doing something wrong<\/strong>. A significant part of the work involves understanding why one reacts the way they do<\/strong>, where certain patterns come from<\/strong>, and what function they have served<\/strong>. <\/p>

When something stops seeming like a personal flaw<\/strong> and begins to make sense<\/strong>, it can be modified<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Sometimes a novel gives words to what had been nameless for years<\/strong>. Sometimes a film shows from the outside an internal dynamic that was invisible<\/strong>. Sometimes a poem or a painting makes evident what conversation circles around<\/strong>. <\/p>

Bibliotherapy, therapeutic writing, and cultural references<\/strong> appear when they contribute, not as mere embellishment<\/strong>. This idea also permeates the book Cultural Therapy<\/em>. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Starting therapy involves exposing oneself<\/strong>, talking about intimate matters<\/strong>, and placing trust<\/strong>. The therapeutic bond<\/strong> is part of the work, not an add-on. <\/p>

A caring<\/strong>, non-judgmental<\/strong> consultation, where clinical listening<\/strong> and honest conversation<\/strong> are not separate things.
